Introduction

The market for Light Steel Thin-walled Constructions (LSTK) in Ukraine is undergoing a fundamental transformation. On one hand, it has suffered a blow due to military aggression, which caused the loss of assets and disruption of logistics chains. On the other hand, the sector has become a critically important element of the national reconstruction strategy, as LSTK technology enables rapid construction of housing, social infrastructure and commercial facilities. This report offers a comprehensive analysis of leading market players, their production capabilities, financial condition and technical innovations.

The analysis is based on a detailed study of product technical characteristics, corporate reporting and market indicators as of 2024-2025. Special attention is paid to manufacturers’ ability to adapt to new realities, particularly through production decentralization, BIM technology integration and compliance with European quality standards.

1. Macroeconomic Context and the Role of LSTK in Ukraine’s Reconstruction

1.1 Steel Market Dynamics and Shifting Priorities

The Ukrainian metallurgical industry, which had a capacity of approximately 42 million tons of steel before 2014, suffered significant losses, shrinking to a nominal 16.5 million tons due to occupation and destruction of assets in the eastern part of the country. Despite a 4.9% decline in production in the first half of 2025, the efficiency of enterprises remaining under Ukraine’s control has increased. For example, capacity utilization of operating plants reached 84%.

In this context, the LSTK segment demonstrates resilience, which is explained by changes in demand structure. Previously, a significant portion of galvanized rolled products went to export or simple roofing materials, but now the domestic market requires high-tech solutions for rapid reconstruction. According to experts from the Metinvest holding, approximately 3.5 million tons of steel will be needed to restore housing and social infrastructure. The “Steel Dream” concept, developed by Metinvest-SMC, provides for widespread use of prefabricated solutions, where LSTK plays a key role due to installation speed and the possibility of all-season construction.

1.2 Technical Standards as Entry Barriers

The market has clearly segmented by raw material quality. The “gold standard” for load-bearing structures has become construction steel grade S350GD with zinc coating Z275 (275 g/m²). This requirement, which was previously recommended, is now virtually mandatory for participation in serious tenders and reconstruction projects financed by international donors.

  1. Corrosion resistance: A zinc layer approximately 20 microns thick (1st class galvanizing according to Ukrainian norms and class 275-N according to SFS 670 standard) ensures frame durability of over 50-100 years in non-aggressive environments without additional painting.
  2. Supply geography: Leading manufacturers, such as “Прушиньскі,” openly declare the use of European-produced metal (ArcelorMittal, Salzgitter), which becomes a reliability marker in conditions of domestic flat rolled product with coating production instability.

2. Tier 1: Industrial Giants and Market Leaders

This segment includes companies with a full production cycle, wide range of profiles and developed engineering support.

2.1 “Прушиньскі” (Pruszynski): Benchmark of European Quality

Pruszynski LLC is the Ukrainian division of a large European group, setting the tone in the industry through strict adherence to EN standards.

Production Capacities and Range:

The company specializes in the production of cold-rolled galvanized profiles up to 3.0 mm thick. This is a critical indicator, as many small manufacturers are limited to 2.0 mm thickness, which narrows the application of their products to light partitions. Pruszynski offers solutions for full-fledged load-bearing frames of multi-story buildings and industrial hangars with support spacing up to 12 meters.

The range includes:

  1. Z-profiles: A key element for roof purlins, allowing large spans to be covered thanks to continuous installation scheme (overlap).
  2. C and C+ profiles: Used as wall studs and floor beams.
  3. Sigma (Σ) profiles: The geometry of this profile provides an optimal weight-to-load-bearing capacity ratio, which is critical for reducing frame metal consumption.
  4. Omega (Ω) profiles: Used as sheathing.

Engineering Approach:

The company doesn’t simply sell linear meters of metal, but provides comprehensive service through its Engineering Department. This includes calculation of static loads, optimization of profile sections and development of joints. Among realized projects using their materials are Epicentr, Auchan, Metro hypermarkets, as well as agro-industrial complexes for Kernel and MHP. Such a client base indicates the highest level of trust from big business.

2.2 “ТермаСтіл” (Thermasteel): Technological Leadership and BIM Integration

The Thermasteel plant, located in Poltava (52 Zinkivska St.), stands out for having the highest level of production automation among Ukrainian players.

Technological Equipment:

The key advantage is the use of equipment from the American company Royal Systems LLC with computer numerical control (CNC). The line is capable of manufacturing profiles at a speed of 18.3 m/min, allowing efficient execution of large-scale orders. An important nuance is the integration of the production line with the Vertex BD software complex. This specialized BIM software automatically generates task files for machines, eliminating the “human factor” when transferring data from drawings to metal.

Product Details:

Thermasteel focuses on the production of C- and U-shaped profiles ranging from 92 mm to 305 mm in width and from 0.88 mm to 2.0 mm in thickness. Unique features of their profiles include:

  • Dimpling: Special indentations at connection points that allow screw heads to be “hidden,” providing a perfectly flat surface for drywall or other material cladding.
  • Service holes: Automatic punching of holes for laying communications (electrical, pipes) directly on the line, which significantly saves installers’ time.
  • Marking: Each part is marked according to the assembly diagram, turning construction into assembling a constructor set.

Financial Condition:

Despite technological advantages, the company’s financial indicators reflect a difficult economic situation. According to registry data, the net profit of THERMASTEEL LLC in 2024 was -1,276,200 UAH with revenue of 6,680,600 UAH. However, the company’s assets remain significant — over 47 million UAH, indicating a strong material base and potential for recovery with growing demand. Another legal entity of the group, THERMASTEEL LSTK LLC, showed sales at the level of 587,313 UAH in 2024, which is significantly less than in 2022 (almost 5 million UAH), indicating possible business restructuring or the impact of war on this particular direction.

2.3 “Альбатрос” (Albatros): Scale and Regional Diversification

Albatros company is one of the oldest market players (operating since 1998) and has a strategically important structure with production facilities in Dnipro and a branch in Mukachevo (Zakarpattia region).

Range Width:

Albatros offers perhaps the widest range of profile sizes on the market. Their catalog contains C-profiles ranging from 100 mm to 400 mm in height. The availability of a 400 mm high profile is a unique offering, as such beams can withstand colossal loads and cover significant spans in industrial buildings, competing with hot-rolled metal products.

Pricing policy is transparent: cost varies from 1,800 UAH/linear meter for light C100 to over 19,000 UAH/linear meter for heavy C400 (4.0 mm thick), allowing customers to accurately forecast budgets.

Financial Stability:

According to OpenDataBot data, ALBATROS LLC (code 23943885) has significant assets (over 46 million UAH), but also significant liabilities (39 million UAH). In 2024, the company recorded a net loss of 669,400 UAH. At the same time, the presence of the legal entity ALBATROS DNIPRO LLC in Mukachevo (code 41716418) indicates a strategy of relocation or expansion westward, closer to EU borders, which simplifies raw material logistics.

3. Tier 2: Specialized Manufacturers and Niche Leaders

This category includes companies that have chosen a strategy of specialization in specific industries, such as renewable energy or the agricultural sector, which allowed them to maintain positions even in crisis times.

3.1 “ЛС Профі” (LS Profi): Energy Vector

The LS Profi plant, located in V. Dubechnya village, Vyshhorod district, Kyiv region, is a striking example of a successful niche strategy.

Specialization in Solar Energy:

Although the company produces standard construction profiles (C, U, Z, Sigma), the lion’s share of their portfolio falls on mounting systems for solar power plants (SPP). The LSTK market for SPP in Ukraine grew 5 times during the 2015-2018 period, and LS Profi became one of the beneficiaries of this boom.

The specifics of this sector require increased corrosion resistance, so LS Profi offers profiles with zinc coating up to 600 g/m². This is twice the construction standard (275 g/m²) and is critical for facilities with a warranty period of 25+ years in field conditions.

Capacities and Finances:

The enterprise’s production capacity is 1,500 tons per month, which puts it on par with industrial giants in terms of metal processing volume. The company demonstrates impressive financial results: the revenue of LS PROFI LLC (code 38957259) for 2024 amounted to 118,621,000 UAH, which is one of the highest indicators among the companies reviewed and indicates stable demand for their products even during the war. The company is certified to ISO 9001:2015, confirming a systematic approach to quality management.

3.2 Корпорація “Промстан” (Promstan Corporation): Agricultural Focus and Mobility

The Mykolaiv Promstan Corporation (operating since 1996) specializes in the construction of fast-assembly buildings for agriculture (grain storage facilities, livestock complexes).

Unique MOBILLOT Technology:

Promstan’s competitive advantage is the use of the MOBILLOT mobile rolling mill. This technology allows deploying profile production directly at the construction site.

  1. Logistics effect: There is no need to transport long-length cargo, which removes length restrictions on profiles. The company can produce seamless profiles of any length, which reduces the number of joints, increases structural rigidity and building tightness.
  2. Range: In addition to heavy structural profiles, they produce lightweight profiles (0.5-1.0 mm) for greenhouses, allowing them to serve both industrial-scale clients (MHP, Nibulon) and farms.

3.3 CKS (Центр Каркасного Будівництва) (Center for Frame Construction): Large Project Experience

CKS company (Dnipro) positions itself as an engineering center with a powerful production base.

  1. Experience: The total volume of produced and installed metal structures exceeds 137,770 tons. This indicates vast experience in implementing large-scale investment projects.
  2. Certification: CKS has a certificate EN 1090-1+A1:2011 EXC 4. Execution Class 4 (EXC 4) is the highest and allows manufacturing structures for facilities with increased safety requirements (for example, bridges, stadiums, nuclear power plants), which is rare for purely LSTK manufacturers and puts the company in the league of heavy metal structure manufacturers.

In addition to well-known brands, the market has powerful regional players that provide local needs and export potential.

5.1 Червоноградський завод металоконструкцій (ЧЗМК) (Chervonohrad Metal Structures Plant)

Located in Lviv region (Chervonohrad city), ChZMK is one of the most modern enterprises in Western Ukraine.

  1. Diversification: In addition to LSTK, the plant is a leader in the production of welded and pressed grating flooring (capacity 1,100 tons/month). This allows them to complete complex industrial facilities “turnkey” (frame + floors/flooring).
  2. Export potential: Proximity to the border and possession of EN 1090 and ISO 3834-2 (welding) certificates makes them an attractive partner for European customers.

5.2 LLENTAB Україна (LLENTAB Ukraine)

Ukrainian representation of the Swedish LLENTAB group. The company offers complete steel buildings using high-strength steel for profiles.

  1. Feature: Although main production is concentrated in Sweden (Kungshamn) and Poland (Gdańsk), the Ukrainian division provides a full cycle of design and installation, using unified corporate quality standards. This is the choice for international investors in Ukraine who demand predictable quality and compliance with Western safety standards.

5.3 Завод “КМ” (LSTK Center) (KM Plant) and Vega Metal

These companies serve the small and medium business segment, as well as retail clients.

  1. KM Plant (Kyiv): Offers a wide range of small profiles (Omega 20mm, Z 55mm) through an online store, making LSTK accessible for the DIY segment (repairs, small canopies). The presence of “buy with one click” prices indicates orientation toward quick retail sales.
  2. Vega Metal (Kyiv): Offers Omega-profiles and brackets, focusing on facade system and interior partition completion.

Note: Although Albatros does not directly specify steel grade in available sources, the price range and industrial purpose of products (400 mm high profiles) indirectly indicate the use of construction steel grades.

7. Financial Condition and Stability

Analysis of open data (OpenDataBot, Clarity Project) allows assessing manufacturers’ “margin of safety” in wartime conditions:

  1. LS Profi: Demonstrates the best dynamics with revenue of 118.6 million UAH in 2024. This indicates the correctness of betting on the renewable energy sector, which continues to develop despite everything.
  2. Rauta Group: Revenue of approximately 8.9 million UAH in 2025 (forecast/current), but records losses (-1 million UAH). This is typical for importers who depend on exchange rate fluctuations and cross-border logistics difficulties.
  3. Thermasteel: Revenue of 6.7 million UAH (2024) and loss of -1.2 million UAH. However, assets of 47 million UAH indicate that the plant is preserved and ready to increase volumes.
  4. Albatros: Revenue of 3.5 million UAH (2025 current), loss of -0.6 million UAH. Huge liabilities (39 million UAH) with assets of 46 million UAH create certain financial risks, but geographical diversification (Mukachevo) is a stabilizing factor.

8. Conclusions and Forecast

The market of profile manufacturers for LSTK in Ukraine is mature, technologically equipped and highly competitive. It is clearly stratified:

  1. Industrial scale: Companies Pruszynski and Albatros remain undisputed leaders for supplying frames for large logistics centers and factories. Their ability to produce large cross-section (up to 400 mm) and thickness (up to 3-4 mm) profiles makes them irreplaceable for projects with large spans.
  2. Integrated solutions (Industry 4.0): Thermasteel is the flagship of digitalization. Their ability to work in a BIM environment and deliver ready-made “home kits” (pre-engineered buildings) with marking and holes perfectly meets the needs of rapid post-war reconstruction, where shortage of qualified on-site labor will be compensated by factory readiness of structures.
  3. Niche stability: LS Profi and Promstan demonstrate how specialization (solar energy and agricultural sector respectively) allows generating stable cash flow even in turbulent times. Promstan’s mobile technology is a unique solution for logistically complex regions.
  4. Regional factor: Shifting emphasis westward (ChZMK in Chervonohrad, Albatros in Mukachevo, LLENTAB) creates a new industrial cluster oriented toward both the domestic market and potential exports to the EU.

In the coming years, the key market driver will be the state reconstruction program. Manufacturers who already have certification (ISO, EN), transparent financial reporting and integrated project solutions will receive the lion’s share of contracts under “Steel Dream” projects and other Ukraine reconstruction initiatives.
