LED pole lights
It is this category of lighting products as fence post lights that is rapidly gaining absolute market leadership today. This trend is easily explained by an impressive list of operational advantages, among which the following should be highlighted:
- Unsurpassed efficiency. LEDs provide a bright, dense luminous flux while consuming 7-10 times less electricity compared to classic incandescent bulbs. Their service life is more than 50,000 hours, which more than compensates for the higher initial cost of the products.
- Resistance to aggressive environments. LED modules perfectly tolerate sudden temperature changes (from severe frosts to summer heat), changes in weather conditions, and also have high resistance to vibration (which is especially important if the fence is located near a roadway). Most high-quality models have an IP54 or IP65 moisture and dust protection class.
- Durability of components. The crystal structure of the diode prevents its mechanical destruction and burnout of the filament (which simply isn’t there). With an average use of lighting of about four to five hours a day, taking into account the guaranteed resource of the components, such a lantern can serve for several decades without the need to replace the light source.
- Safety for coatings and lack of UV radiation. LED street lights do not emit ultraviolet and infrared waves. With prolonged exposure to rays from such lamps, the metal pillar and fence sections do not heat up, which completely eliminates the risk of deformation, paint fading, or tarnishing of the protective polymer coating of the fence. In addition, LED light attracts fewer nocturnal insects.
Please note! When organizing low-voltage LED fence lighting (for example, 12V or 24V), additional installation of a step-down transformer (power supply) will be required, which must be reliably protected from moisture.
Spherical lights
A classic and win-win solution that is usually installed on fence posts are the so-called spherical lights (globe lanterns). Most often they are mounted on top, forming a logical completion of the support pillar, or attached to special brackets. Plafonds can be of various shades: from transparent and smoky to multi-colored, and their surface can be matte, diffusing light, or glossy. Choosing spherical lights by style and color for any type of fencing will not be difficult.
Modern sphere plafonds are made of high-tech materials (for example, polymethyl methacrylate or impact-resistant anti-vandal polycarbonate), which have exceptional wear resistance to any weather conditions, hail, and temperature fluctuations. They do not turn yellow in the sun over time. Caring for them is extremely simple: thanks to the streamlined shape, less dust accumulates on them, and it is enough just to periodically wipe or wash them from dirt.
AUTONOMOUS SOLAR-POWERED LIGHTS
The most innovative and easy-to-install solution today are solar-powered LED lights. These are fully autonomous devices that do not require laying wires, connecting to the central power grid at all, and operate exclusively on solar energy accumulated during the day.
Their main disadvantage is dependence on weather conditions. On cloudy days or in winter, the battery is not fully charged, resulting in a weaker glow and a not very long illumination duration. Often, 3-4 hours after midnight, the lamps begin to dim, and by morning they may stop working altogether.
Despite this, modern autonomous LED lamps are rapidly winning the sympathy of buyers. Their undeniable advantage is that if you decide to bring lighting to the fence after completing landscape work, you will not need to dig up the lawn, spoil the paving slabs for laying the cable, and hire a specialist for complex electrical work. It is enough just to fix the product on the pole with bolts or self-tapping screws in a well-sunlit place, and by the evening the illumination of the fence will function. Such lanterns provide absolute electricity savings (electricity bills will not increase by a single penny) and are an environmentally friendly solution.
| Type of light | Main advantages | Installation features |
| Wired LED | Bright light, work all night, durable | Require laying cable underground or inside pillars |
| Solar powered | Zero electricity costs, autonomy | Fast installation without wires and trenches |
| Spherical (220V) | Uniform diffused light, anti-vandal | Connection to the 220V network, installation of RCD is desirable |
